Thank you all for your past business!

As of 2013, I will not be selling daylilies any longer. With the death of my husband in late 2011, and with a full-time job outside the farm, it is just too hard to maintain the garden by myself. I am currently exploring donations of stock to non-profit entities, churches, garden clubs, etc. If you are aware of a local need such as this, please contact me.
I would like to thank all of my past customers for their business. It has been a really fun experience getting to know you all! I will miss the annual Open House day; it was always busy, but fun (even my workers agree)!
If you ever have any questions about daylilies or your purchases, please don't hesitate to contact me. Again, it was a great pleasure to know you all, and I appreciate your past business.
With wishes for a great daylily season ahead, I remain,
Yours truly,
Kris Henning, Proprietor

Due to the extremely early spring and subsequent hot weather with plenty of rain, we are moving our Daylily Open House up one week so you can enjoy peak bloom in the garden. Our new date is
July 21st, 8-5
We hope you will be able to join us!
Kris

Our 2012 Daylily Open House will be on July 28th from 8-5 o'clock. As always, we have lots of wonderful daylilies to choose from, hourly door prize drawings, and refreshments to enjoy while your daylilies are being dug. It is such a fun day! We are hoping for better weather this year rather than a storm like we had last year . . . we had to shut down operations for awhile for the storm to pass.
If you are not able to attend the Open House, you are always able to contact us for a special appointment, or we do ship daylilies from mid-May to the first of September. Our mail-order price list will be going out in the mail soon.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. We look forward to serving you this daylily season!
Yours truly,
Kris Henning

Here it is, a New Year, and with it comes a heavy heart. It is with great sadness that I report that my husband Ralph passed away on October 8, 2011. He was an important part of this daylily business, and it will be very hard to operate without him. The future of the nursery is uncertain at this point, but I am determined to be open this year at least. I will be deciding upon the catalog list and Open House dates for this year soon and will keep you posted.
I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all of our past and future customers for their business with us, and look forward to sharing our daylilies with you.
Sincerely,
Kris Henning

Dear Readers,
I have caught a typo on my price list which was sent out a few weeks ago. The daylily 'Coburg Preview', while a very pretty daylily, is NOT $55.00~! It is supposed to be $5.00. The error is all mine, and I accept all blame . . . so now you can breathe a little easier and go ahead and order it if it is on your 'wish list'!
Most of the daylilies we sell are very affordable and will reward you for years to come with their easy care. We do have a few higher-priced ones and all are nice garden plants.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
We hope to see you at the Open House this year! Thanks for your interest in our daylilies!
Yours truly,
Kris Henning

2011 Daylily Open House!

It's time for catching up! We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our wonderful customers for patronizing our daylily gardens. We have a great time in the garden and love to get the chance to know you and help you bring beautiful color to your own gardens. We enjoy digging each and every order and try to give the best plants and service that we can to you. We look forward to our Open House each year with great anticipation!

For those who like to plan ahead, our Open House this summer will be on July 30, 2011, from 8 AM to 5 PM. If you would like to attend our Open House, but wish to reduce your wait time for digging, you may pre-order ahead of time by emailing us with your initial order and we will have it ready for you. You can still add to it after you get here and see the beautiful blooms!

Our Open House is a week later this year because we are directly involved in the American Hemerocallis Society's Region 1 Daylily Summer Meeting, which takes place in Bloomington, MN., from July 22-24, 2011. For more information on this fun event, please go to the Region 1 website, www.northerndaylily.com .

We will be getting our 2011 price lists out in the mail soon. If you would like a copy and are not on our current mailing list, please do not hesitate to email us and we will mail or email one to you. Our shipping season runs from May 15-Sept. 1st, but you can also pick up your order by contacting us ahead of time. We are open by appointment only, so please contact us if you'd like to come for a visit. Peak bloom is usually mid-July to early August.

Again, thank you for your interest in Spirit Lake Daylilies, and we hope to see you at Spirit Lake this year!

Yours truly,

Kris & Ralph Henning

Spirit Lake Daylilies

Monday, July 19, 2010

Due to the extremely early spring and copious amounts of rainfall, the daylilies have bloomed very early this year. I had to change the date of the Open House to July 17th, and postcards were sent to all people on the mailing list, but due to my lack of savvy on the web presence, I neglected to change the date here on the Blog! I apologize profusely to all for this error!

Due to this mistake, I will be open by appointment on this coming Saturday, July 24th, until 3pm for customers. There will be no restroom facilities this week, but I will have a tent and some refreshments, plus I will be here to dig orders. As there will just be myself for that job at this point, there will be some wait time involved for the digging, but if the weatherman proves correct, it may be a nice day to sit under the canopy and sip a cool drink and look at the lake while I dig for you!

If you would like a price list with directions, please send me an email and I will email it back to you. You can pre-order and reduce your wait time by emailing me ahead of time. Please note, we are sold out of some varieties. Again, my regrets for this error. Kris Henning, Proprietor
